His heart was courageous
in the ways of the LORD.
2 Chronicles 17. 6
(Not on his own nerve
was he daring, bold
and brave,
but in the LORD
and his walk with Him.
We walk differently
into the hard stuff
when we trust Him.
We hold His hand,
but He is really holding us.
In Hebrew here courageous
literally means
to lift up and exalt,
not himself
but the LORD.
Taking His high road in this.
True courage is not
one's own boldness
but in the LORD's strength
to go forth.
"Courage is being
scared to death,
but saddling up anyway."
-- actor John Wayne
But we do not ride alone.
When we trust God,
He brings the strength.)
O LORD,
Help us to realize
that this hard thing
is not for us to carry
on our own.
But the difficulty is
an opportunity
to know and trust You more.
May trusting in You
help us to approach
and navigate this differently.
Bring us through
this impossible passage
into a deeper trust in You.
We cannot yet see
the other side,
but we can take
the next step.
Help us to be
strong and courageous
for Your glory,
even in this.
