And when you reap

the harvest of your land,

      right up to its edge,

nor shall you gather

  the gleanings

        after your harvest.

but conscious and caring

    for the needs of others.

Not just about stuff

but time

   and intentional kindness.

Where are the margins

of my "field"

     to love others well?)

Bring him to Me.

bring it to Jesus,

lay it before Him.

First response,

    not last resort.

We waste a lot of time

and energy,

doing everything else

 before bringing it before Him.)

He arose and went away

to the region

                of Tyre and Sidon.

(God leads us from

   one place of ministry

                  to the next,

even in what is unexpected,

His purposes deeply woven.)

And He asked them,

"Who do you

     say that I am?"

(A question for which

    each person must respond.

An answer

that tells everything about you.)

The wise lay up knowledge...

                 Proverbs 10. 14

(Building intentionally

        layer upon layer

in the most ordinary times

     preparation for this day

     and for tomorrow what comes,

           when it comes.

Memorizing, engraving,

marinating in,

learning by heart and mind

the songs of Zion

     and the truth of His Word.

Familiarity in His Word

   enhances the blue skies

and emboldens us in crisis.)

And they took up

    twelve baskets

full of broken pieces

        and of the fish.

              Mark 6. 43

(We can never comprehend

the vast unbelievable results

   from any act of obedience.

There is no singular outcome,

no insignificant obedience,

no ordinary day.

Bring, O LORD,

     Your glory into this.)

How are

such mighty works

  done by His hands?

                 Mark 6. 2

(Always point others to Him

by the evidence

     of the Almighty.)

I am the LORD your God.

Consecrate yourselves

therefore and be holy,

        for I am holy.

          Leviticus 11. 44

(Not about rules

but everything about relationship.

Consecrate means

   to make an intentional choice.

My life should look

very different,

       because of my love for Him.

Love God

             and others well.)

He said to them,

   "Why are you so afraid?"

                      Mark 4. 40

(And He asks me the same.

What if there was

              in actuality

nothing to be afraid of?

We miss out on so much

       because of fear.

"Trust Me in this."

            Leviticus 9. 6

(Always the outcome

of seeking, listening,

and responding

            to the LORD:

a glimpse of His glory

            in some dimension.

Obedience is

         never insignificant.)

Trust in the LORD,

        and do good;

dwell in the land

   and befriend faithfulness.

Delight yourself in the LORD,

and He will give you

      the desires of your heart.

Commit your way to the LORD;

trust also in Him,

           and He will act.

               Psalm 37. 3-5

(Trust, dwell, delight, commit--

     the work of aligning

            my heart to His.

Trusting the LORD

     is never a passive verb.

This passage is

one of my favorites.

I may not always see a path,

but the LORD leads me through.

are the profound times

of sharing the love of Jesus

and revealing truth

in ordinary things

    on the most ordinary days.

Watch for the opportunities

all around you

     to point others to Him.)

...a pleasing aroma to the LORD.

(In whatever I do,

how I respond,

and what I want to leave

                        lingering.)

...as the LORD had commanded Moses.

So Moses finished the work.

                Exodus 40. 32-33

(Not just what to do,

       but how to do it.

Even when Moses

      did not understand why,

          he was faithful.

Moses had seen enough

     than to question God in this.

Do I respond as faithfully

in what the LORD places

             before me?)                  

The LORD redeems

      the life of His servants...

               Psalm 34. 22

(No matter what,

no matter the impossibilities,

every detail

           for His glory,

when we walk with Him.

Unexpected,

inexplainable,

undeniable.)

I will bless the LORD

         at all times;

His praise shall be

   continually in my mouth.

              Psalm 34. 1

(His goodness,

kindness,

grace and love

    spilling over,

not just in my heart

           but in my words.)

And all the people

     among whom you are

shall see the work of the LORD,

for it is an awesome thing

that I will do with you.

                    Exodus 34. 10

(Not about us

     but about His glory

              in plain sight

to point others to Him.)

Is it not

   in Your going with us,

so that we are distinct,

I and Your people,

   from every other people

   on the face of the earth?

             Exodus 33. 16

(Walking with the LORD

      should look very different.

His Presence changes

               our hearts,

               our vision,

               our attitudes,

 even what we choose to do,

     in every day details,

 in volatile situations

 and among impossible people.)

Then Jesus said to him,

"Put your sword

    back into its place.

For all who take the sword

will perish by the sword."

               Matthew 26. 52

(When I lay the situation

              before the LORD,

He gives me a new heart

       and a new vision,

of what it may really be about,

and what it can be

              for His glory.

Choose the higher road

      in this conversation,

not bearing arms

     but armloads of grace.)

...not as I will,

      but as You will.

            Matthew 26. 39

(This is the most liberating prayer,

not telling God what to do,

how to do it,

              when and where,

but aligning my heart

   with God's heart and His purposes,

even those too deep to understand.

This is not a prayer of submission,

             but release

into the infinite reality of the Almighty.)

For I was hungry

        and you gave Me food,

I was thirsty

        and you gave Me drink,

I was a stranger

        and you welcomed Me,

I was naked

        and you clothed Me,

I was sick

        and you visited Me,

I was in prison

        and you came to Me.

...And the King will answer them,

"Truly, I say to you,

as you did it to one of

the least of these My brothers,

               you did it to Me.

                  Matthew 25. 35-36, 40

(Whatever the need before us,

                   unto Him,

in His name and for His glory.

Nothing is insignificant,

every act of kindness

          intentional and eternal.)

His master said to him,

"Well done,

    good and faithful servant.

You have been faithful

                   over a little;

I will set you over much."

                 Matthew 25. 21, 23

(Those who are faithful know

     that nothing is insignificant.

There is nothing God cannot use

              or redeem for His glory,

       even this.

The most profound

is dependent on the tiniest detail

and planted by the smallest seed

--even an encouraging word,

       a kindness, a listening ear.

Help me, O LORD,

to be faithful in what

You have placed before me today.)

Behold,

I send an angel before you

    to guard you on the way

and to bring you to the place

       that I have prepared.

                  Exodus 23. 20

(Nothing random in this

                    at all,

but God's deep purposes

      right here,

      right now.

You are strategically placed

                for His glory.

More than you can know.)

If you see the donkey

of one who hates you

lying down under its burden,

you shall refrain from

     leaving him with it;

you shall rescue it with him.

                Exodus 23. 5

(Every opportunity

             for grace,

every act of forgiveness,

every steppingstone

   in loving someone to Jesus

             --even in this--

changes them,

changes me.)

[Ten commandments]:

You shall have no other gods before Me.

You shall not make for yourself a carved image.

You shall not take the name

      of the LORD your God in vain.

Remember the Sabbath day

                and keep it holy.

Honor your father and your mother.

You shall not murder.

You shall not commit adultery.

You shall not steal.

You shall not bear false witness.

You shall not covet.

                             Exodus 20. 3-17

(How to love God

            and love people.

Even more radically countercultural

                    than ever.)

Now therefore,

if you will indeed obey My voice...

(Have I even considered

asking the LORD about this,

not just seeking His way,

        but seeking Him?

It will completely change

         the course of my life

and radically impact

    everyone around me.)

"What is it?"

..."It is the bread that

the LORD has given you to eat."

                 Exodus 16. 15

(The LORD provides

all the odd circumstances

and awkward situations

and mysteries we cannot grasp,

the "what in the world is this?"

                moments and seasons,

        to strengthen and sustain

        to equip and prepare us

                 for what has been,

what is now,

            and what will yet come.

God is faithful

even in what we cannot understand.)

But the people of Israel

        walked on dry ground

   through the sea,

the waters being

       a wall to their right hand

       and on their left.

                 Exodus 14. 29

(What is your Red Sea?

God's deliverance

    may not be a big red exit sign

              but right through this.

God specializes in the impossible

         and what is a mystery to us

for His glory

and that we may know Him more.

Do not seek the obvious path

                  but His.)
