Whose Name is Written on This?

 

You shall make

a plate of pure gold

and engrave on it,

   "Holy is the LORD."

          Exodus 28. 36

(That is what we should

    engrave on our own work,

whatever we do

             and how we do it,

     "Holy to the LORD."

Even now.

Even this.

Our work

      --whatever it is --

is an outpouring of worship

              to the Almighty.

We don't often think that way,

but worship changes everything,

   and it changes us.

Engraving "Holy to the LORD"

   alters not just how we see it,

but how we see God

and how we see ourselves.

Whose name is written on this?)

O LORD,

In whatever is ahead of us today,

    --the beautiful and the difficult--

 help us to see how

     to engrave Your name on it.

Because we desire to bring You honor

      and unfold Your holiness

      even in unexpected places.

Help us to leave Your fingerprints here

    through all we do,

not just in our achievements,

         but for Your glory and beauty.

Every moment,

     even the hard stuff,

              is holy to You.
