But I Can Do Something

 

Let every skillful craftsman

    among you

come and make all that

   the LORD has commanded...

...every craftsman in whose mind

   the LORD had put skill,

everyone whose heart

   stirred him up to come

to do the work.

         Exodus 35.10, 36.2

(God has wired and equipped

    every one of us for His work,

restoration, and beauty

                   in this world.

How differently would we

  do the work before us

--to even see need 

           or opportunity--

if we had the mind and heart

   to serve the LORD in this?

Ability and attitude.

Willing and able.

I can't do everything,

     but I can do something.)

O LORD,

Help us to see this day

   with a different heart.

To know that

   we worship You

   in all that we do.

Grant to each of us

   the courage, wisdom

   and strength

to honor You today

  with a willing heart,

good attitude,

       and faithfulness.

Everything matters.

Even in what appears

  to us as a small task

is far more significant

in Your Kingdom

    than we can know.
