God is Great and God is Good

 

But may all who seek You

   rejoice and be glad in You.

May those who love Your salvation

 say continually,

      "Great is the LORD!"

                Psalm 40. 16

(Where is the light

     in all this darkness?

God's steadfast love

   is not dependent on

   favorable circumstances

             and blue skies.

In Him, we have hope.

How differently would we live

  if we rejoiced,

if we imprinted those words

         on this situation?

                Or on our hearts?

Repeating Great is the LORD

is not to make us feel better

   or look on the bright side,

          but to tie us to His mast.

Because when the storms come,

    we already know how to respond.)

O LORD,

We cannot tell You enough

             of Your greatness.

May our words and actions

    display healing and hope

                and joy

    in this broken world.

Please help us to navigate

     the smooth sailing

     and the storms

not with a sense

            of Your greatness

  but the reality of it.

You are with us.

You do not just bring us through.

You draw us to You.

You are good and You are great.
