The Redeeming of Unusual Objects

 

He made the basin of bronze

and its stand of bronze

from the mirrors

      of the ministering women

who ministered at the entrance

of the tent of meeting.

               Exodus 38. 8

(Everyone contributes

    to the worship, witness,

    well-being and with-ness 

      .for God's glory.

What has God placed

                    in my hands

     with which to honor Him?

We all have gifts and giftedness

     to glorify Him.

Do we consider where we stand

      as an opportunity for ministry?

   Or what we hold in our hands

         as means to serve Him?

Nothing insignificant here.

 It is not just how we view it,

         but how God redeems it.

God calls us to be faithful

    in what we see as ordinary

    and experience His wonders in it.

It's all ministry.)

O LORD,

Please help us to see that

    worshiping You

    changes not just how we see,

    or what we say and do,

but remodels our hearts.

We offer to You

   for Your glory and purposes

the things You have given us.

Nothing worthless in Your sight.

You do not just restore

     or re-purpose,

turning mirrors into lampstands.

You redeem.

And that is what

           abides forever.

Even in ways we may

                      never see.
