How We Work

 

I perceive that there is

nothing better for them

    than to be joyful

and to do good

        as long as they live;

also that everyone should

eat and drink and take pleasure

          in all his toil

--this is God's gift to man.

            Ecclesiastes 3. 12-13

(What do we choose?

"Enjoyment in his toil"

   literally means

   "make his soul see good."

Not grudgingly doing our work

    but be used for God's glory

    in all that we pursue.

Even in the hard stuff,

   to see the chronicle

   of God's faithfulness.

How differently do we

     approach not just 

               what we do

   but how we do it?)

O LORD,

Grant to us Your strength

   not just to do what

   is before us,

but to walk with You

    right in the midst.

Empower us with Your joy,

knowing that

You bring Your glory

    in unexpected ways.

Help us to honor You

      in all that we do.
