All Around Us

 

For the shields

of the earth

belong to God...

         Psalm 47. 9

(We live in a broken world.

We are often overwhelmed

    by all that is happening,

feeling like afflictions

         have the final say,

but God is still the Almighty.

God is our shield.

We are covered,

we are comforted,

we are strengthened

       by His power

and embraced by His love

    on all sides.)

O LORD,

Even in the middle of

  difficult circumstances

   too hard for us to endure

     or understand,

Your Presence surrounds us,

Your shield is over us,

   and Your abiding within.

Guide us into this day.

Help us not just to follow You,

  but to know

  we walk with You through it.

May we practice Your Presence

      over and over again.

We are not alone in this.

        You are with us,

Your shield over us.
