Fruitful Even in This

 

In the morning sow your seed,

and at evening

          withhold not your hand,

for you do not know

                   which will prosper,

this or that,

  or whether both alike will be good.

                     Ecclesiastes 11. 6

(We have no idea how God will

                     use our work

     and bear fruit through it.

God doesn't waste anything.

There are no insignificant details

            in God's economy.

Faithfulness plants majestic sequoias

    of which we may never see.)

O LORD,

Help us to be faithful 

          and fruitful in our work

   and in our relationships

that You will be glorified

        in the smallest tasks,

    even those unnoticed.

Cover our work

   with Your timeless completion.

You bring Your victory

         in unexpected ways

    and in unlikely places.

Align our hearts with Yours

    and to trust You

                  even in this.
