Broken Grip

 

O God,

break the teeth in their mouths,

tear out the fangs of the young lions,

                        O LORD!

                           Psalm 58. 6

 

(We all struggle with something,

       both real and imagined.

Loosen the grip of our fears,

                            O LORD,

    whatever stands in our way

                   of following You.

Are we relying on our own strength

           or seeking His courage in this?

What would we do differently

       if there was nothing to be afraid of?

How would we approach and navigate

            the difficulties or unknown,

     if we trusted Him?)

 

O LORD,

Help us to see times of trouble

             and weakness

    as not a trigger for fear

            but to trust You more.

We are so often caught in the fangs

     of what seems insurmountable.

Fear says there is no way out.

Trusting You reveals new ways

        through adversity.

We walk with You

    and the roar of our fears

   becomes as a kitten’s meow

   and draws us even closer to You.

You grant us Your courage

        in unexpected situations

to be both a witness to us

                and to others.
