Answer me, O LORD,
answer me,
that this people may know
that You, O LORD,
are God...
1 Kings 18. 37
(In prayer, are we seeking
a particular answer,
or are we seeking God
in this situation?
What God unfolds
may not just be that
others can see
that He is God,
but we also know Him
and trust Him more.
God's purposes
are never singular
and never just
for someone else.)
O LORD,
We come before You
with our requests,
and cries in the night,
and our hearts.
Not that You would enter
these circumstances,
but that we would recognize
and witness
that You are already here,
already working out
Your sacred designs.
It's not about "answered prayer,"
but that Your glory
gets all over everyone
and draws each one
right into Your arms.
