Praise the LORD!

Sing to the LORD

      a new song...

        Psalm 149. 1

(What am I singing

       over this day,

       into this day,

       before the LORD,

and into the lives

of those all around me?

A song of praise

   and love to the LORD?

Or a grinding noise of

   complaint and despair?

What soundtrack

          do I choose?

How can I approach this day

    not just with a

        new song in my heart,

but with a new heart?)

O LORD,

Help our song to You

be a witness to others

about who You are.

May a new tune

      of praise to You

get stuck in our heads,

a song that never ends,

new words to an old tune,

or a new melody altogether.

Every day is really just

   an opportunity for

     a whole new stanza.

You invented music,

          O Almighty One,

to soften our hearts

and move our souls

and bring You glory.

May the words of our song

   point us always to You,

reflect our love for You,

and become infectious

in the lives of others.
