And he made a veil of blue
and purple
and crimson fabrics
and fine linen,
and he worked
cherabim on it.
2 Chronicles 3. 14
(Are we so caught up
in the practical
that we forget
the significance of
beauty?
God creates beauty
in everything He does.
Just look at creation.
Beauty is as important
as the practical.
What am I embroidering
on what I am doing today?
Am I stitching angels
and weaving grace?)
O LORD,
Help us to realize
that there are dimensions
of beauty in whatever
we undertake
that engrave Your image
and point others to You.
May we be faithful
in following You
not just in what we do
but how we do it.
Setting our eyes on You
changes how we approach it,
not just seeing a task
but a glorious unveiling.
Your glory exceeds
what we see as ordinary.
Your vision enlarges
the commonplace.
