Good sense makes one
slow to anger,
and it is his glory to
overlook an offense.
Proverbs 19. 11
(Even more than our actions,
what distinguishes us
is how we react to
the actions of others.
Do we respond
with grace and love?
Others are continually
watching us
to see if God is real.
If the love of Christ
has really changed our hearts,
it is revealed in our
everydays
and ordinary ways,
by how we treat others.
As what kind of person
are we known?
What is at stake here:
God's glory
or only my wounded pride?)
O LORD,
We all struggle with something
or someone.
When we keep our eyes on You,
we are not focusing on
the gaping faults of others
nor on our hurt feelings,
but bringing Your glory to it.
Grant to us the good sense
to bypass the offenses
of others
and radically change
the situation and the outcome
by Your grace.
