His mother said to the servants,

"Do whatever He tells you."

...Jesus said to the servants,

"Fill the jars with water."

And they filled them up

         to the brim.

              John 2. 5, 7

(What can God do

with this ordinary,

   seemingly mundane action?

Following Him,

serving Him,

responding to Him,

    all the way to the brim.

Even in what we think

does not matter

may be the most profound thing

             we do today.

What a different life we would have,

what a different world this would be,

if we approached this day,

this problem, joy or struggle,

    with a heart like that.)

O LORD,

Align our hearts with Yours

that we would not just

          be used by You in this,

but that we would

          dwell with You in this.

May we in this day

     reflect Your heart

and be faithful to You

in whatever You place

             before us,

in unlikely ways

   and unexpected places,

to bring Your name there

and manifest Your glory

     all the way to the brim.
