And David had success
in all his undertakings,
for the LORD was with him.
1 Samuel 18. 14
(It does not mean that
everything was easy
and effortless,
but the ancient Hebrew means
to be attentive and prudent,
giving care and thought
about what is now
and what is next.
It is not just what happens to us,
but how God uses experience
for us to know Him more.
Not how long will this last,
but what is God nurturing in me
through this?
David learned on Whom
his strength relied.
He came to know
it was not in him
but God.
He needed not just to believe
but know that
for what was ahead.)
O LORD,
None of this is random.
But through it,
You prepare us,
equip, provide,
and strengthen.
Even when we
don't realize it.
May we go forth
attentive to Your Presence
and abiding in Your strength,
for Your glory
and in Your name.
Guide our steps, O LORD,
and align our hearts
with Yours.
