When I, Daniel,
   had seen the vision,
I sought to understand it.

               Daniel 8. 15

(When we cry out,
"God, I just don't get it."
God embraces us
     and nods His head.
He is God,
       and we are not.
Some things we
        will never understand.
Some things we
         will grasp,
but even in those,
there are eternal dimensions
we will never comprehend.
But we can know
  that God is good
and trust Him even in this.
We don't have to understand
to know God is in it.
And He is right here with us.)

O LORD,
When we worship You,
we don't have to
     understand everything.
We can trust You.
And we can go forth
with a new strength,
not encumbered by distress
     or not understanding,
but empowered by You
     abiding in us.
When we call out to You,
You always answer
in some unexpected ways
that even exceed
    what we see as
    our immediate need.
Thank You, O LORD,
that You replace despair
with a deep trust in You
and that not understanding
is not the end of the story,
but perhaps,
only the exciting part.
