...that all the earth may know
that there is a God in Israel,
and that all this assembly
may know that the LORD
saves not with
sword and spear.
For the battle is the LORD's,
and He will give you
into our hand.
1 Samuel 17. 46-47
(The story of David and Goliath
is one of the most known
and loved stories in the Bible.
Real people, real places,
real events.
David lived 1040-970 BC,
and we still remember
his story and God's glory.
His experience still helps us
to know God's faithfulness
in our own dilemmas.
It is not that we will succeed,
be the best,
win or lose by a lot or a little.
But that in whatever we face,
God's glory will be evident,
not just in the outcome,
but how we navigate
this impossible situation,
trusting Him in it.
Follow Me through it.)
O LORD,
We all have Goliaths
in our lives
of all sizes and strengths.
Please help us to approach
these hard things differently,
because we know and love You.
May we be a witness to others
that You are the Almighty.
It is not in us, but You.
We need You.
Please help us to see others,
not as our adversaries,
but those who need You too.
And this need not be
a battle after all.
Empower us
to have the mind of Christ
in this hard place.
And to know in our own lives
yet another story
of Your faithfulness.
No matter the outcome,
You give us Your strength.
And cover it in Your glory.
