I will rejoice and be glad

      in Your steadfast love,

because You have seen

            my affliction;

You have known

      the distress of my soul;

and You have not delivered me

      into the hand of the enemy.

You have set my feet

                  in a broad place.

                 Psalm 31. 7-8

(God sees.

 God knows.

 God delivers in unexpected ways.

 God gives us sure steps

      and a place to stand,

   even in the miry bog,

          the steep side of a mountain,

   all the scary places

      where we cannot see

                      the next step.

God redeems

          what we see

          and what we don't see.

No matter what,

no matter where,

   taking one step at a time,

not out of fear

            but in trusting Him.

God is faithful

   even in what is unknown to us.

He provides a place to stand

         today in His strength.)

O LORD,

Help us to trust You,

even when we can't touch bottom,

or the next step is not obvious.

You protect us from ambushes.

You have a strong hold on us.

       And You redeem.

Grant us Your courage

    that we may follow You,

one step and then the next.

You sing Your steadfast love

                  over us.

Revive us along the journey

       with a fresh energy

above all,

             to know You more

and serve You with a whole heart.
