Not What We Cannot, But What We Can

 

She has done 

             what she could...

             Mark 14. 8

(That is all that God asks of us,

faithful in what is before us,

faithful to Him

            in all that we do

     and in how we do it,

     our actions and attitudes.

We cannot do everything.

  May that not stop us

              from what we can.

We can do something today,

       even with this.

Our effort may seem meager to us,

            but being faithful to God

   is always profound in His Kingdom.

Even a kind unexpected word

      can alter the trajectory of a life.

If we only knew

           how God uses us

even on the most ordinary days

                   or circumstances,

   we would never be reluctant

   to follow Him into it,

even in what appears

           foolish to this world.

Nothing but nothing

   is wasted in God's Kingdom.)

O LORD,

Please remind us that

     You multiply,

     You magnify,

     You enlarge

            far beyond our vision

            or understanding.

Guide us into what we can do

    and how to do it in Your name.

Empower us to worship You

          in all that we do today

   and not classify what is

     significant and what is not.

Help us to be faithful

   with what You have given.

You have provided

      opportunities all around us.

Through Your mighty power,

   faithfulness bears fruit

   for generations hence,

those yet unborn

  that they would know You.
