And you shall rejoice
before the LORD your God
in all that you undertake.
Deuteronomy 12. 18
(All in ancient Hebrew means
exactly that:
all.
No exceptions. No exclusions.
Not even part-time.
May we find new ways to approach,
navigate and serve the LORD
with our work,
even in this situation.
We are all in full-time ministry.
When we rejoice,
not just in the stuff we like,
or enjoy, or good at,
it nurtures the rock-hard soil
beneath our feet
into sacred ground.
Rejoicing in the LORD does that.
Deeper than
having a good attitude,
but bringing
an unexpected brightness
to a dark or foggy environment.
How can we be glad, flourish,
and undertake our work
with a different countenance,
expression,
and a new heart?)
O LORD,
Please show us how to
honor You in our work,
to lean on You
when it's really hard
and bring Your majesty there.
No work is a waste of time,
but an opportunity to serve You.
And to love others
right into Your arms.
Enlarge Your vision in us
to see that nothing is mundane,
but every detail
--and our heartset--
bring You glory
even in really unexpected places.
To do that, we need Your courage, vision
and Your incredible
creative touch.
We can't do it alone.
Help us to surprise others
by Your joy in us.
And amaze us as well.
