Donkeys That Talk

 

Then the angel of the LORD

   went ahead and

   stood in a narrow place,

where there was no way

to turn either to the right

             or to the left.

            Numbers 22.26

(We need to make that commitment

        before we enter the fray

to trust the LORD

        and follow His guidance into

        what we expect and what we don't.

Sometimes God goes to extremes

      to guide, provide and 

      protect us even from ourselves.

And at times, He sends donkeys.

Not just change our course,

     but our hearts and see 

 how our everyday choices

               impact generations.

We go on our merry way unaware

    of walking along an abyss.)

O LORD,

Please stop us in our tracks

     when we wander.

Keep us on Your path for us,

   even when we don't understand,

   even today

      when it doesn't seem to matter.

There are no insignificant obediences.

Please go before us, behind us,

           and walk with us.

Redeem our steps.

Thank You for protecting us

         all along our lives,

even in ways we never saw

      what was at stake.

May we be faithful to You

   in all that we do and say today.

For Your glory.

For Your Kingdom.

In Your holy name.
