By awesome deeds

   You answer us

   with righteousness,

   O God of our salvation,

the hope

  of all the ends of the earth

      and of the farthest seas,

the One who by His strength

      established the mountains,

           being girded with might;

Who stills the roaring of the seas,

the roaring of their waves,

            the tumult of the peoples,

so that

   those who dwell

   at the ends of the earth

  are in awe at Your signs.

You make the going out

  of the morning and the evening

             to shout for joy.

                  Psalm 65. 5-8

(Hope everywhere we look

              in all directions,

     even in this,

the stilling of the storms

              in all dimensions

    --even despairing hearts --

revealing His Presence

     every day

                all around us

   in ways that cannot be denied.

How else can awe be explained?

How many awesome deeds

             does it take

    to recognize the Almighty

and His steadfast love?

Even in the unexpected,

    especially in unlikely places.)

O LORD,

We are surrounded by tumult

           and voices of despair.

Please help us

       to know Your Presence,

   not just to hear Your voice,

         but to listen for You.

You are our hope,

             even in this.

May Your Glory

   get all over this crisis.

Your sovereignty

      is not just our safe place,

but our refuge,

   from which to go forth

          strengthened by You.

Help us not just to fill up

these unexpected and endless

     shelter-in-place hours,

but to fulfill every moment

      by Your purposes

      and for Your glory.
