In the beginning,
God created
the heavens
        and the earth.
The earth was
without form and void,
and darkness was over
  the face of the deep.
And the Spirit of God
was hovering over
the face of the deep.

           Genesis 1. 1-2

(In the beginning
   of this new year
   that God has created,
it appears to us
without form
and void and dark.
But the Spirit of God
         hovers over
the face of our new year.
God says,
“Just wait and see
     what I have in store,
the wonders of My universe
    and to know you more.
Be not afraid of
    what you cannot yet see.
I am not just in it.
     I am with you.
    Always.”)

Happy New Year!

LORD,
The new year appears
     a bit overwhelming
and full of what is yet
    unknown and mysterious.
But as we look to You,
    these new days are
 full of wonder
          and Your glory
in unexpected ways,
in unlikely places,
that which
      astonishes us all.
There are no ordinary days,
    only extraordinary ones,
  no insignificant moments,
       only sacred ones.
May we know Your strength
and wisdom and Presence
   and seek You
   to know You more.
