Not A Dead End After All

 

We went through fire

      and through water,

yet

You have brought us out

to a place of abundance.

        Psalm 66. 12

(Yet 

is one of my favorite

    Biblical words.

Because God is

    not done with this.

We are just in the middle.

Not a failure,

nor miry bog,

not the impossible,

nor a dead end

              after all,

but God strengthening

and redirecting us,

maybe to someplace new,

maybe right here

         with a different heart.)

O LORD,

Please help us

to trust You even more

when we are struggling,

when we don't understand,

when we can't see

         an end to this mess.

You are bringing about

   something incredible

we wouldn't believe it,

         even if you told us.

Help us to respond

   differently to the hard stuff,

not seeking purpose in it,

but experiencing You.
