Changes That Stick

 

Blessed are all

who take refuge in Him.

           Psalm 2. 12

(It is not the huge resolutions

    that change our course,

but what we consider

          as "little" choices.

Those are the ones

               that stick.

Which way do we choose,

    which attitude to take,

    what to say,

            and what to do?

A refuge is

    not a place to hide,

but to be nourished

and strengthened

             to go forth.

God does not just

          meet us there.

He walks with us

          on the path.

And that changes

              everything.)

O LORD,

As we walk into this day,

the choices to make,

the work to do,

the words to craft,

even the attitudes we wear,

may You

         be the one thing

         we desire.

Guide our thoughts.

Order our way.

Re-order our affections.

Attract our attention.

Help us rest in You.
