Now the day before Saul came,

the LORD had revealed

                to Samuel...

              1 Samuel 9. 15

(God prepares us

for His divine appointments,

even in those things

    we do not yet understand.

Each detail is essential

          to the whole,

every experience advances

          His purposes,

even when we cannot

  yet see His story in it,

  nor the outcome.

What is this all about?

God says,

     "Trust Me in this,

      trust Me with this,

trust Me through this.")

O LORD,

We cannot know

for what You are

       preparing us

to fulfill Your purposes

and to bring You glory

in unexpected places.

Help us to seek You

not just about situations

or difficulties

or the mysteries,

    or for answers,

but to seek You.

Prepare Your way for us

as we enter a new week

that we may listen and

watch and respond

and follow You into it.

We cannot know

         what is ahead,

but You do.

And Your resolution

  may not yet be ripened.
