Take It Out To The Curb

And the angel said to those

who were standing before him,

"Remove the filthy garments

                  from him."

And to him he said,

"Behold, I have taken

  your iniquity away from you,

and I will clothe you

     with pure vestments."

            Zechariah 3. 4

We can stand firmly 

     in His forgiveness,

bearing a new heart.

We are free now

  from our shortcomings,

  regrets, 

  and downright rebellions.

We can go forth differently,

  wearing a new wardrobe.

God softens our hearts

and changes what we wear

and even what we carry.

May we take those old ways

      out to the curb

and leave them there.

O LORD,

We don't have to 

    beg for Your forgiveness,

because You have

   already provided it for us.

Help us to walk in it

   as new creations.

Clothe us in new vestments

of kindness, grace and mercy

   that bless others

        and bring You glory

even in unlikely places.

Help us walk with You

  into this new day

  with a heart softened

and refreshed by You.
