The point is this:
whoever sows sparingly
will also reap sparingly,
and whoever sows bountifully
will also reap bountifully.
2 Corinthians 9. 6
The point is this:
that God's Kingdom
and economy operate
with radically different
fundamental laws.
The world says
get and take.
God calls for us
to give and give.
Generosity breeds
generosity.
What are we sowing?
What are we pouring into?
Our own basket
has a hole in it.
Dig, plant, water, pull weeds,
and nurture while we wait
to see what God brings to it
and from it.
Trust in the slow work of God,
be faithful in well-doing,
and be surprised at what
emerges from all good work
done in His name.
Patience doesn't let go.
It lets grow.
O LORD,
Help us to realize
that all good things
come from You.
Grant to us the vision
to be generous
with kindness, goodness
and grace.
Multiply what we sow,
enlarge our hearts,
build our desire
to get our fingernails dirty
to give bountifully,
one word, one deed,
at a time,
planting fruit trees
that bear for generations.
