A Million Moving Parts

 

Does not He see my ways

   and number all my steps?

                 Job 31. 4

Absolutely.

Every thought and action,

every trail we choose,

whether we react or respond,

our unfolding joys and sorrows,

in service or selfishness

 ---God does not just see

       but reaches for us,

covers us with steadfast love,

and calls to us

        Come to Me in this.

He sets forth His way

  one steppingstone at a time.

In one prayer and then another,

      God reveals Himself.

Every moving part

        is not just in His hand,

but all things hold together.

O LORD,

You see us.

You hear us.

You love us

  more than we can know.

You do not only

     number our steps,

but You hold our hands

in climbing and descending.

When everything seems

      to be spinning,

focus our eyes on You.

Help us to trust

       Your sovereignty

over this one huge thing

                   today,

or a million moving parts.
