Inconvenient, Awkward and Filled with His Power

He laid aside
   His outer garments,
and taking a towel,
tied it around His waist.
Then He poured water
    into a basin
and began to wash
the disciples' feet and
wipe them with the towel
that was wrapped
            around Him.

           John 13. 4-5

(Seeking and grasping
 every opportunity to serve
God by serving others,
every effort and endeavor
   significant for His glory.
Even that which is
   inconvenient, uncomfortable
   and not what
       we might choose.
What lingers is
   the aroma of Christ
 and a strong witness
  of healing
   in this broken world.
Selflessness always
            does that.
What do we need
to lay aside to do this?
Most often,
           our pride.)

O LORD,
Help us to not just
bring along
  a towel and basin
but an attentive heart
  that goes along
  with them.
Use us for Your glory,
not thinking less of ourselves,
but thinking less
        about ourselves
and more about You.
