...but my hand shall not
be against you.
1 Samuel 24. 12
(Forgiveness does not just
radically change
the intentions of our hearts,
but it releases us
to what is new
and incomprehensible.
Forgiveness seeks
the wellbeing of others
instead of revenge,
healing instead of hurt,
kindness instead of criticism,
grace instead of resentment.
Can't do it! True.
Forgiveness is impossible,
if not for
Christ in us.)
O LORD,
We come before you
with wounds
bleeding out for a long time.
But You provide
not just band-aids,
but the healing balm
that You paid for
with Your life.
Help us to see
that forgiveness is
rebellion
against the brokenness
of this world.
Renewing.
Redeeming.
Bringing Your light
to our dark places.
Not by our efforts,
but by Your grace.
