Will they revive the stones
     out of the heaps
     of rubbish,
and burned ones at that?

               Nehemiah 4. 2

(God redeems
the unlikely and unexpected.
The walls of Jerusalem
lay in waste for 140 years.
Nehemiah led the exiles
to rebuild it in 52 days.
What can I do with
     this pile of rubble
     before me?
God stirs His creative spirit
         in each of us
for the restoration
     of this broken world.)

O LORD,
We are surrounded by
     a broken world
     and a mess.
Please order our days.
Anoint our time today,
point us
  and appoint us
    to acts of goodness
           and restoration
and to turn things
     rightside up again
with love an
