Sow for yourselves
          righteousness,
reap steadfast love,
break up
     your fallow ground,
for it is time
  to seek the LORD
that He may come
and rain righteousness
                upon you.

             Hosea 10. 12

(What is before me
               in this day?
What am I seeking to sow,
what am I hoping to reap?
Have I considered
      God's way in this
or the abundance of land
   around me left untouched,
   abandoned to weeds,
even this impenetrable clay,
       riddled with rocks?
May we sow, reap,
   and seek rightness,
justice, virtue,
deliverance, redemption,
and the welfare and blessing of
those God places on our path.
And to bring the name
     and grace of Jesus there.
We see just dirt,
    but God alters
            the landscape.)

O LORD,
Please align our vision to Yours
that we would grasp ministry
in the yet untilled ground
            around us,
that which only appears
   as ordinary or difficult.
It is not so much
the landscape that needs altering
     as much as our hearts.
Compel us to join You
   in sowing, cultivating
   and preparing Your way
                 even in this.
