For we were so utterly burdened

beyond our strength

that we despaired of life itself.

Indeed, we felt that

we had received

        the sentence of death.

But that was to make us

rely not on ourselves

             but on God

who raises the dead.

        2 Corinthians 1. 8-9

(Beyond our strength,

even totally overwhelmed,

that we would turn to God,

to know Him more,

    and rely on Him.

This experience is just

another incredible story

in our chronicle

        of His faithfulness.

Not in our strength

           but in His.)

 

O LORD,

If we only realized

that we are not

      alone in this,

but dwelling in You

and running with You,

   we would be astonished.

There is nothing random

   in these circumstances

but Your glory

       in whatever we face

and knowing new dimensions

              of Who You are.

     bearing the imprint

               of Your glory.
