For as the earth

brings forth its sprouts,

and as a garden

  causes what is sown

  in it to sprout up,

so the Lord GOD will

  cause righteousness

  and praise to sprout up

before all the nations.

           Isaiah 61. 11

(What am I planting?

What is the LORD

      bringing forth?

We plant,

    but God gives the growth.

And sometimes,

   God plants surprises.

Faithfulness to God

  in whatever He places

  before us,

always bears

         His fruitfulness,

sometimes and nearly always

   in an unexpected harvest,

that which we cannot

             yet see.)

O LORD,

Please guide our steps,

form Your plans,

align our hearts with Yours,

and bear Your fruit in this.

Help us to be faithful to You,

even when the soil

   appears fallow

   and hard as a rock,

even when it looks like

       nothing can come of this,

You alone

    cultivate what is

       wondrous and eternal.
