Going Around In Circles

 

You shall march around the city,

all the men of war

going around the city once.

Thus shall you do

             for six days...

...On the seventh day,

you shall march around the city

           seven times,

and the priests shall

     blow the trumpets.

...then all the people shall shout

     with a great shout,

and the wall of the city

          will fall down.

           Joshua 6. 3-5

(We all at one time or another

     face the impossible

the difficult, and the worrisome.

Are we willing to follow God,

respond to Him, obey Him

even when it doesn't

     seem to make sense,

even when we don't

        see the outcome?

We have but to be faithful.

God has something

        up His sleeve

we cannot yet comprehend

to leave a witness there

that cannot be forgotten.

And for us

       to know Him more.)

O LORD,

Please guide our way through

   this road block,

these impenetrable walls,

this hard thing

   that keeps us up at night.

Help us to march with You,

even when it feels like

     we are going in circles.

Fulfill Your purposes

          even in this.

And empower us

      to be led.
