So we built the wall.

And all the wall was

    joined together

   to half its height,

for the people

         had a mind to work.

         Nehemiah 4.6

(The walls had lain waste

              for 140 years.

Nehemiah led the people

    to rebuild it in 52 days.

What has God placed before us

   to restore, rebuild and redeem?

What could we do

   if we had the mind to work?

Are we just waiting

           for someone else

    to take the lead?)

O LORD,

We live in a broken world

   with fallen walls

   and hurting people.

We can't do everything,

   but we can do something.

Show us this day

        how to respond,

how to fill the gaps,

    and how to bring You glory

in unexpected places.
