You shall not be

  in dread of them,

for the LORD your God

is in your midst,

a great

     and awesome God.

The LORD your God

will clear away

these nations before you

       little by little.

You may not make

an end of them at once,

lest the wild beasts

grow too numerous for you.

      Deuteronomy 7. 21-22

(We are all faced

at one time or another

with the overwhelming.

But God specializes

in impossible situations.

What is in our power

is to be faithful to Him

       in every step

      God shows us.

He is already at work,

revealing,

redeeming,

restoring.

I cannot do everything,

but I can do something,

and that is to

   faithfully follow Him.)

O LORD,

Help us to know that

fear, dread and despair,

always result

       in a dead end.

But You, O LORD,

provide a different way,

not just to bring us

through the difficult,

impossible

  and overwhelming,

but bring us to You.

"We don't know

        what to do,

but our eyes

        are on You."
