Never Asking Directions

 

...but did not ask counsel

from the LORD.

             Joshua 9. 14

(As a young girl,

I was very aware that

  my dad never asked directions

or followed printed instructions.

One wrong turn led to yet another.

But when we ask, listen,

      and respond to the LORD,

we take a far different journey

       into our day.

No matter where we are

           or what we face,

we see differently

     and think differently,

very aware

   that we do not travel alone

in the familiar and ordinary

  or in the unexpected

        and extraordinary.

Did I even consider

     the LORD about

   His guidance in this situation?

Nothing is too small

   or insignificant in His eyes.)

O LORD,

May we come to You

not with our own agenda,

but asking that

You lay Your day before us.

Nudge us to ask Your counsel

Please help us

to both listen and respond.

There is a different way

          through this.

And that would be with You.

May we be aware of the wonders

  all around us

when we walk with You.
