Jeremiah said,

“You shall not

      be given to them.

Obey now

the voice of the LORD 

in what I say to you,

and it shall be

          well with you,

and your life

     shall be spared.”

          Jeremiah 38. 20

(Inquire first God’s way

             in this,

seek Him through this,

not just an answer,

not just an outcome,

not just an exit door.

Even in what appears

        to make no sense,

faithfulness to God

   is always against the odds.

Faithfulness to Him

   always brings His glory 

   to it,

even through unlikely ways.)

O LORD,

You redeem the hard stuff 

by drawing us

        even closer to You,

that we would seek You

                          more.

Help us above all

    to be faithful to You,

even in this daunting situation,

     even right where we are

             on the most ordinary day,

and not be distracted 

       from Your glory in this.

And to know there are 

  no insignificant obediences.
