Something Remarkable Coming Into View

 

And when He had finished speaking,

Jesus said to Simon,

"Put out into the deep

and let down your nets

               for a catch."

And Simon answered,

"Master we toiled all night

    and took nothing!

But at Your word,

     I will let down the nets."

And when they had done this,

they enclosed 

   a large number of fish,

and their nets were breaking.

                Luke 5. 4-6

We often question,

  "But God, there's nothing here.

                I already tried that."

But Simon took it to the next step,

   "But at Your Word...."

He trusted that Jesus knew

    what was deeper at stake.

Even now, something remarkable

   is about to emerge

of which we are largely unaware,

that which is just waiting

       below the surface.

When we respond to His voice,

we have no idea 

    what is in store

to both amaze and sustain us.

God brings His glory

   in all sizes of nets.

O LORD,

Help us to take the next step

     in trusting You

     in this impossible situation.

Nudge us to let down

and put out into the deep,

even when it doesn't 

      make sense to us.

We don't want to miss

  Your purposes in it

nor Your revealing the supernatural.

May our nets break

    honoring You today.
