You have not gone up

     into the breaches,

or built up a wall

  for the house of Israel,

that it might stand

in battle

in the day of the LORD.

             Ezekiel 13. 5

(Our attention should not

be focused on what

others have

      or have not done..

But have we been faithful,

responsive to the needs

               around us,

bringing the name of Jesus

                      there,

standing at our posts

  where God has placed us,

building up our part of the wall

    and our corner

             of His Kingdom,

sowing His Word,

   loving God and others

    in our section of the field?

We are loved by Him.

We are called to Him.

We are sent for His glory,

           even here,

           even in this.)

 

O LORD,

We have left unattended

what You have commissioned,

and what You have designed

for the restoration

         of this world.

We are quite a bit

  overwhelmed by the mess.

Help us to be faithful to You,

        even today,

        even in this.

Not distracted by anything

  that pulls us away

  or stands in the way

of our relationship with You.

You provide a passage

         through the impossible

in ways that cannot

be easily explained away

                by our fictions.

Help us not miss

  the glimpses of Your glory

                  today

by standing at our posts

and being faithful to You

           in all we do.
