...at the place the LORD will choose,
to make His name dwell there...

...Who brought you out of the land of Egypt,
out of the house of bondage,
Who led you through the great and terrible wilderness
with its fiery serpents and scorpions
and thirsty ground where there was no water,
Who brought you water out of the flinty rock,
Who fed you in the wilderness
with manna which your fathers did not know,
that He might humble you and test you,
to do you good in the end.
Deuteronomy 8. 14-16
(there is a reason for it all,
always His goodness even in the midst)

He said to Simon,
"Put out into the deep
and let down your nets for a catch."
And Simon answered,
"Master, we toiled all night and took nothing!
But at Your word I will let down the nets."
And when they had done this,
they enclosed a great shoal of fish,
and their nets were breaking...

He will deliver my soul in safety
from the battle that I wage,
for many are arrayed against me.
...Cast your burden on the LORD
and He will sustain you;
He will never permit
the righteous to be moved.
Psalm 55.18, 22
(Everyone has a personal struggle,
some evident, some that no one knows about.
Let go, lift it up to Him,
and allow God the space and time
to work what only He can do.)

And the people complained...and said,
"O that we had meat to eat!
We remember the fish we ate in Egypt for nothing,
the cucumbers, the melons, the leeks,
the onions and the garlic,
but now our strength is dried up,
and there is nothing at all
but this manna
to look at."
Numbers 11. 1, 4-6
(grumbling makes us look right past God's goodness)

"Which commandment is the first of all?"
Jesus answered,
"The first is: 'Here, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one;
and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart,
and with all your soul,
and with all your mind,
and with all your strength.'
The second is this,
'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'
There is no other commandment greater than these."

God is and He is love,

God is our refuge and strength,
a very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear
though the earth should change,
though mountains shake in the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam,
though the mountains tremble with its tumult.
...Be still and know that I am God.
Psalm 46. 1-3, 10

In your majesty ride forth victoriously
for the cause of truth and to defend the right...
Your royal scepter is a scepter of equity;
you love righteousness and hate wickedness.
Therefore God, your God, has anointed you
with the oil of gladness...

what is good and right)
